Courtney Davenport - Cook III at Buddy V's

I started my career with the Sands in 2012 as a Steward. From there I was promoted to a Cook I in the Carnegie Deli in 2012 and eventually promoted to Cook II and Cook III in 2013. I’ve had the opportunity to work as Cook III in almost all of our restaurants including the Carnegie Deli, St James Gate, Emeril’s Chop House, and now Buddy V’s.

Why do you like working at Sands?
I like working here for multiple reasons but the number one reason is the exciting atmosphere.

What makes your department so unique?
The amount of preparation that goes into creating every meal in order to keep customers coming back.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?
The recognition from our management team and co-workers.

What are your favorite benefits at Sands?
Working with so many people in such a social environment. I have met many new friends.

Do you feel recognition in the work you perform?
Yes, more often than not.

Would you recommend Sands to anyone out there?
Yes, it is a great company to work for.

Can you share some of your favorite moments at Sands?
Winning Employee of the Year (BRAVO) – I remember sitting in the Chop House with my eyes closed waiting for the President to call someone else’s name. When my name was called it was absolutely breath taking. GREAT EXPERIENCE.

Xolani Diamini - Chef de Cuisine at Emeril’s Fish House.

I was hired in 2010 as a Cook III in St James Gate. In 2011 I transferred to Emeril’s Italian Table where I was promoted to Sous Chef. I was again promoted in 2014 to the Chef de Cuisine of the Italian Table (Now Emeril’s Fish House) and currently work as the head Chef in Emeril’s Fish House.

What makes your department so unique?
|Everything is a total team effort - from the stewards to servers to cooks, it takes the whole team to accomplish our goal of unmatched customer service/satisfaction

What is the most rewarding part of your job?
Creating amazing meals and making our guests happy.

What are your favorite benefits at Sands?
All of them!

Do you feel recognition in the work you perform?
Yes, I started as a Cook II and worked my way up to the Chef de Cuisine. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from and opportunities for advancement if you want to grow with the company.

Would you recommend Sands to anyone out there?
I have and will continue to recommend the Sands Casino to anyone interested in the culinary field.

Can you share some of your favorite moments at Sands?
Having the opportunity to open three different restaurants has been an incredible learning experience and a chance to make a lot of close friends.

Casey Becker - Sous Chef at the Carnegie Deli

I started my career here in 2011 as a Cook II in the Carnegie Deli. I was then promoted to a Sous Chef at the Carnegie Deli in 2013 and am still there today.

Why do you like working at Sands?
The Sands has great opportunity for advancement and is always trying to improve on becoming the best Casino/resort in Pennsylvania.

What makes your department so unique?
Food and Beverage is always changing. Each day brings something new, whether you’re trying out new recipes for menu specials or creating menus for the VIP Lounge.

What is the most rewarding part of your job?
I love that in my position I am able to teach and show new team members how to make and create dishes. Watching them grow day by day into great cooks and eventually leaders themselves.

What are your favorite benefits at Sands?
Being able to have an Outlet mall right in Bethlehem is great. You don’t have to go far too get a great deal. Also, not having to travel a long distance to go see a live show and then have a nice dinner is pretty great too.

Do you feel recognition in the work you perform?
Watching a guest reaction to the food we as a team create is the best recognition I could ask for.  Having a guest come to the window and say that was the best meal they ever had, truly makes me feel great.

Would you recommend Sands to anyone out there?
Yes, there are great opportunities her for everyone. And there are tons of opportunities coming because we are constantly changing and growing as a Casino/resort right here in the Lehigh Valley.

Can you share some of your favorite moments at Sands?
Being a part of the annual Food and Wine Festival. Collaborating with the entire Food and Beverage team to create different appetizers and working together to make the event a huge success.

Being a part of the community and giving back to the schools and veterans is great. As such a big presence in Bethlehem it’s great to able to give back to our community.
